Are the class rules the same as the KC Region SCCA? Just curious.

Yes, to make it easier for those of our SCCA members we are keeping the same class rules/structure as SCCA.

I don't want to stir up any pots or anything but you all should think about making your own rules because the SCCA rules are copyrighted and use of them at non SCCA events is a copyright infringement.

We're in the process of doing that for this very reason.

I guess what he is saying is that you cannot even use the same class names/titles or any of the class rules as to the type of vehicles. Crown operated like this for a lot of years. Was the club given a dispensation from SCCA? If so it must be on file somewhere.

I think the more vigorous enforcement of the copyright is probably a fairly recent thing. There are a number of other organizations that are protecting their intellectual property, publications, and logos more dilligently lately, especially with widespread use of cut and paste on the internet. Loss of control of the use of these items can be widespread if not looked after closely. One can only do the work for most everyone else for so long before its just not worth it anymore.

I have an idea for how to incorporate a classing structure that is compatible between Crown and SCCA but a public forum is probably not the best place to discuss it.
