Question... Do the Crown events also have helmets to borrow? We are working on getting our own, but not sure we'll have them by this event.
Thanks!

Yes, Crown has loaner helmets.
One quick way to find a helmet is to check your nearest motorcycle specialty shop or dealer. Look for a Snell-approved/stickered M2005 or newer.
M-rated helmets start out much less expensive than SA-rated helmets, which are the ones lined with Nomex for wheel-to-wheel racers.
See you at the Speedway. (The Red Baroness? Little Red likes that alot.)

Needing some help/advice on which class to register under...
This will be my first Autox event in KC, second ever. I am a road course track junkie and need something else to keep me occupied between track events. Plus this is somewhat competitive so it will make it more interesting.
basically i just need to know what the rules are for classes so I know which class to sign up under. Without getting too much into details: 98 audi a4 quattro garett turbo kit with all the add-ons possible street tires street pads and oem brakes will be driving with 4 point harness if that makes a difference
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. See everyone Sunday!

Welcome, Josh! Sounds like a fun car, but don't be afraid to get into details. Details are important. It sounds like you've added the turbo system. My catch-all response on classifying any four-seater with big-time engine mods is, "Street Modified." But others on the board will certainly correct me if I'm wrong here. Since you are running street tires (other SM cars will likely be on race rubber, per class rules) you might want to run under "Street Mod/Street Tire," or SM/ST, so that you are grouped in the results with other "Street Tire" competitors. See you soon. Look me up. Old red BMW, silver checker flag graphic on the hood, #10 STX. d.hitchcock beemer832 wrote: Needing some help/advice on which class to register under...

All of this category research is making my head spin Okay here goes the details... 1998 Audi A4 AWD 1.8L turbo, 4 door sedan (some call it the family sedan) Fully built motor with forged rods, custom pistons and rings bored 2mm over (1.9l) APR turbo kit which includes garett BB turbo, high flow manifold, "test pipe", injectors, tune, FMIC s4 swapped 6speed transmission and diff stage 4 clutch with light weight fly wheel short throw shifter brakes are all OEM sized with hawk hp+ pads braided brake lines and dot4 race fluid lowering springs and sport struts (non coil-overs) 235 wide street tires I don't think I am missing anything. A friend runs a yellow S4 there, and he is running the ST class. Am I eligible for this class? I can just wait until I get there on Sunday and register in person and talk to someone if needed. -josh

Josh Not to sure about the effect of the internal engine parts but the rest sounds like STX (TSX in Crown). If not STX or STU (TSU in Crown) then probably one of the Prepared classes. I don't have the current rule book handy but you can read it at http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules/2010_scca_solo_rules.pdf

Sorry Bill! A turbo addition and an engine with built internals are definitely not STX legal. This sounds like a job for ... How long do the Crown events "normally" go for? If I have somewhere to be in the late afternoon/evening I don't want to double book myself.

Most are done by mid afternoon. Turnout is less than for an SCCA event.
Check it out, seat time is seat time.

If SM allows internal engine mods then it looks like that is where you would fall as long as the car weighs at least 2590 pounds, based on your 1.9 L actual displacement.
