I know for AutoX the helmets must be M2005 or SA2005 rated. However, I am looking for any suggestions on where has good prices and options. Either local or online options are fine.
I've noticed that the motorcycle helmets are much more interesting in the color option department. Any reason for that?

http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/i went here to buy my motorcycle helmet. i think you can get a basic one for $70 (i think they were HJC) as i have found out that you really need to try it out at the store because different brands don't seem to fit the same. I had a pretty good experience at that store.

We just ordered Sonja's helmet from SPS. She got a silver open-face by HJC.

Thanks for the suggestions. MotorcycleCloseouts.com has quite a selection! I definitely need to swing by and try them on...even if I do end up buying online. Thanks again! bharmer wrote: M5OkieGal wrote: I know for AutoX the helmets must be M2005 or SA2005 rated. However, I am looking for any suggestions on where has good prices and options. I've noticed that the motorcycle helmets are much more interesting in the color option department. Any reason for that? They don't have to be 2005. You can still use 2000 rated and the M2010 came out last October. The SA2010 comes out this October as well. You can also use SFI rated helmets as well. Here is what all is allowed for the 2010 season: http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rule ... lletin.pdfI overstated when I said "must"...thanks for the correction.

Freedom Cycle in Grand view gave me a smokin' deal on an Aria.
Personally I say support local, or support people who support autoX, Like SPS. .02

Geez, check is in the mail for all you guys propping us. Thanks! More colors are available in the "motorcycle" helmets simply becuase the market is much, much bigger. You should be OK with the major brands (HJC, KBC, THH) but make sure that you check any helmet that claims to be Snell rated actually has the holographic Snell sticker on the INSIDE under the padding. I have seen off brand helmets that say Snell on the outside but aren't really rated. If there is anything I can help with you can email me directly at sales@soloperformance.comThanks, DaveW

I got my HJC from SPS's trailer when they were at the KC Tour last year. They had one in my size that matched the color of my car perfectly Speaking of, are you guys going to be at the KC Middiv this year? I think I could use some sturdier magnetic numbers...

Yes we will. We only carry white and black, block font, 8inch numbers on the trailer, if you want anything else, just let us know ahead of time and we will have it on the trailer for you.
Thanks!
